Nanbu Iron Kettle : Nanbu Tekki (ironware), a traditional handicraft made in Morioka City and Oshu City in Iwate Prefecture. It originated from "Chanoyu" (tea ceremony) that was popular among lords during the Edo period.
It has long been said that "water boiled in an iron kettle tastes delicious. This is because the minerals contained in the water adhere to the inside of the kettle and are removed. Boiling in an iron kettle removes the smell of chalky water, water is transformed into mild-tasting water with richer iron content.
