南部鉄器 鉄瓶 平丸亀甲(内面釜焼)直火用

This Nanbu Iron Kettle (Nanbu Tekki) is a traditional craft from Morioka and Ōshū cities in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Originating in the Edo period, Nanbu ironware was inspired by the tea ceremony culture that flourished among feudal lords. Known for its refined casting techniques and timeless beauty, it remains one of Japan’s most respected metalworking traditions.

It has long been said that “water boiled in an iron kettle tastes better.” This is because minerals naturally adhere to the inner surface during use, softening hard water and removing impurities. The result is smoother, milder-tasting water enriched with a gentle iron flavor.

Each kettle is made from solid cast iron, offering excellent heat retention and durability. Ideal for brewing tea over an open flame, this kettle transforms an everyday ritual into a moment of quiet elegance.
