This exquisite guinomi (sake cup) is a handcrafted masterpiece, showcasing the traditional Japanese art of Hakone Yosegi-Zaiku (Marquetry) . Originating in the late Edo period, Yosegi-Zaiku is a form of marquetry that involves assembling pieces of wood with various natural colors and textures to create intricate geometric patterns. Craftsmen meticulously select and combine woods such as cherry, walnut, and maple to achieve the desired hues and designs. Employing the “Muku-Zukuri” technique, this guinomi is carved from a solid block of patterned wood, allowing the design to extend seamlessly throughout the piece. This method not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds depth and character to the cup. The smooth finish and balanced form make it both a functional vessel and a work of art.

While the cup can be gently cleaned with a sponge and mild detergent, it is not suitable for microwave or dishwasher use.
