This is a rare Nanbu ironware teapot shaped like a cat.
The interior is enamel-coated, so it cannot be used directly over an open flame. Nanbu ironware is a traditional craft made in Morioka and Oshu cities in Iwate Prefecture. It originated during the Edo period, inspired by the "tea ceremony" that was popular among the feudal lords.
